Silo mural in Australië

Looking back, from October 2022 until October 2023 I spent a year backpacking through Australia. I first travelled along the east coast, stayed in hostels, and made so many great memories and connections. One of the biggest highlights was celebrating New Year’s Eve in Sydney. After that, it was time to start working. My first job was on a blueberry farm, where I spent a month and a half packing blueberries with a really fun group of people. During that time, I also explored Tasmania in a campervan.

Later on, I travelled to Hay, a small town above Melbourne and west of Sydney. There, I worked on a farm where they grow cotton, wheat, barley, corn, chickpeas, and faba beans. Alongside some house painting jobs, I also had the opportunity to create murals. First, I painted wildflowers in a vase inside a bathroom, but then came the real highlight: painting a 6-metre-high silo featuring the crops grown on the farm.

I genuinely loved creating that mural. From beginning to end, I enjoyed every part of the process. The fact that there is now a mural I created standing in Australia still feels surreal to me. I had such an amazing time there and met incredible people who gave me the freedom to fully express myself as a mural artist.

One of the best parts of this adventure was that I got to create another mural afterwards, this time for the farm’s carpenter. He loved my work so much that he wanted a mural of his own. For him, I painted a landscape inspired by New Zealand, the country he originally comes from.

After the little town: Hay, I continued travelling through Bali, the west coast of Australia, the Great Ocean Road, and finally the centre of Australia. It’s a journey I will never forget, and hopefully one day I’ll get the chance to create another mural somewhere else in the world. That would be truly amazing.
