Sometimes you get a commission you secretly hope for: being allowed to come back again. And that is exactly the case right now! I am currently hard at work on my second mural in Sportstad Heerenveen. The fact that I have been asked to create a mural again feels like a huge compliment and gives me a lot of confidence. I am incredibly grateful for that.

Perhaps you have already seen my first mural. Its theme was tropical and warm. A colorful underwater world full of vibrant coral, a dolphin, a seal, and various types of tropical fish. And if you look closely, you will even discover a hidden seahorse. That made it extra fun!

This time, I get to paint the wall directly opposite. Where the first mural radiates warmth, this one is all about the exact opposite: cold, ice, and penguins. A beautiful contrast that will perfectly complement the existing painting.

Just like with the first mural, the center of the composition is rendered in a realistic, colorful style with many details. The sides, however, are kept calmer and consist primarily of various shades of blue. Because this wall is larger than the previous one, I chose to render the two central sections in a fully realistic style, while the outer parts provide a smooth transition with cool blue tones.

I have been working on this for over a week now. During that time, I have prepared and pre-treated the wall, and applied the complete sketch and base coat. That may not be the most spectacular part of the process, but it is incredibly important. Good preparation ultimately ensures the best end result.

I am really looking forward to bringing this mural further to life in the coming period. Are you curious about the progress? Then be sure to keep an eye on my website and social media.

I am very curious what you think of the design and the concept. Please let me know in a comment!

Of course, I will show the final result as soon as the mural is completely finished. Until then, here is a little sneak preview: a curious polar bear who can't wait to be brought further to life.
